What is Prime?

Prime Therapeutics LLC (Prime) provides pharmacy benefit manager services for over 30 million members and is collectively owned by several Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans, subsidiaries or affiliates of those plans, including BCBSIL.

For Boeing, Prime is the pharmacy benefit manager for many of the medical plans that we offer employees, including the plans administered by BCBSIL, CIGNA HMO and Aetna HMOs (except the Aetna HMO in Kansas).

I understand that I use the Prime network and Walgreens Mail Service for my prescription drug needs. What is the difference between Prime and Walgreens Mail Service?

Prime administers your prescription drug program and has a network of over 55,000 independent and chain retail pharmacies that you can use to fill prescriptions, and over 54,000 of those retail pharmacies can fill up to a 90-day supply of medications. Walgreens Mail Service is the home delivery and Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy is the specialty pharmacy.

What information is available online?

Once you register on myprime.com/boeing, you can review your pharmacy benefits and access tools:

  • Find covered medicines – find medications on the drug list, compare prescription prices, see a list of your current medications, find out if your medication requires preauthorization and more.
  • Find network pharmacies in your area – those that can fill either short-term prescriptions or up to a 90-day supply.
  • View your prescription drug history – costs for prescriptions filled before January 1, 2021 will be listed as $0

How do I set up an account on the Prime website?

To create a member account, have your member ID card handy, go to myprime.com/boeing and click on “Register” in the upper right corner. Then complete three steps:

  1. Enter your plan information using the drop-down menus.
  2. Provide information about yourself, including your name, member ID, name, date of birth and gender.
  3. Create your account by selecting a user name, password, email address and a security question.

Can I manage my family’s prescriptions on myprime.com/boeing?

You can see prescriptions for your children 17 years old and younger, but your spouse and dependents age 18 or older cannot share their prescription information with you on myprime.com/boeing.

You can manage your family’s prescriptions on https://walgreensmailservice.com for home delivery and https://walgreensspecialtyrx.com for specialty pharmacy medications.

If I need help setting up an online account or am experiencing technical issues on the Prime website, how do I get assistance?

For assistance, please feel free to contact a member services representative anytime. Support is available 24/7.

Prime Therapeutics:

  • BCBSIL Members: 888-802-8776 (TTY 711)
  • Aetna and Cigna members: 800-421-6022

Why is my prescription drug no longer on the Prime drug list?

There are often several medications, both generic and brand name, available to treat the same condition. The pharmacy staff determined that your medication is safe and effective alternatives are available that may help save money for you and Boeing.

If your doctor feels you need to take the medication that is no longer on the drug list, your doctor can request a clinical review from Prime. Your doctor can call the number on your ID card to start the process.

I submitted a coverage exception request or a prior authorization on a prescription drug after the transition to Prime on January 1, 2021. How do I check on the status of my request?

To check on the status of a coverage exception request or a prior authorization on a prescription drug, please call a Prime member service representative. Representatives are available 24/7. If you call Prime outside of normal business hours (7 a.m.-7 p.m. Central time), say “pharmacy” at the prompt to reach a representative.

How do I fill a 90-day prescription at a network retail pharmacy?

If you want to fill a 90-day prescription for maintenance at a network retail pharmacy, ask your doctor to write a prescription, and you or your doctor can submit the prescription to the pharmacy of your choice. Then, find a “90-day” pharmacy so you can fill your prescription.

When you log in to your account on myprime.com/boeing, click on Pharmacies and search the retail pharmacies for a “90-day” designated pharmacy. Nearly 98% of the 55,000 Prime network pharmacies can fill a 90-day prescription. If you’re switching pharmacies, your pharmacist can transfer any remaining refills to your new pharmacy.

Are there any other opportunities to save money on my prescription drugs?

This spring, Boeing will introduce Rx Savings Solutions, a confidential and optional service that gives you personalized prescription guidance at no cost to help you save money. The service can send you a text or email if you pay too much for a prescription, which can help you find other ways to get the same medication for less money.

You can pre-register for this service now on myprime.com/boeing. Scroll down the home page and click on “Register now.”
